PRESS RELEASE

SPY Projects presents American Architecture, on view from March 26th through April 8th. An opening reception will be held on March 25th from 7-9pm.

If there is a quintessential American architecture, it is experienced as an encounter with intentional constructs designed to guide the polis, and to scaffold social, economic and political life. Beyond and within the physicality of buildings are the structures that stage and guide our interpersonal connectivities, the invisible networks from which our lives and livelihoods are spun.

The art featured in this exhibition emerges from both the materiality of the former and the immateriality of the latter. From decorative architectural elements to the uncanny, pixelated pictoral, these works reflect a mediated environment where the intellectual spaces we occupy are so enmeshed with our social being as to become a kind of American architecture.
